A Look at the Cadillac Ranch

During my cross country trip last October I made a stop at the Cadillac Ranch on the outskirts of Amarillo, Texas. The Cadillac Ranch is an art sculpture that resides on the side of I-40. It consists of 10 different Cadillac’s with their noses buried in the ground. This place was just so odd that I had to stop and see it for myself. The cars are in the middle of an empty field and you are encouraged to grab some spray paint. For more information on this check out the Cadillac Ranch website.

iJustine brings us Eggs 2.0

It is Easter and probably the most popular thing to do for Easter is color eggs with your family. This year Justine took a web 2.0 twist to the old tradition of coloring eggs and decorated eggs with web 2.0 logos. Lots of my favorites are in there such as Twitter, Google and Qik. I was surprised to see one web site missing from her egg decorations though. This being Justin.tv which she spent so much time broadcasting on. It is a fun video and I have to say she has some serious skills decorating eggs. Happy Easter!

Finally an easy way to explain Twitter

One of the most challenging and difficult things for me to do is explain what twitter is to people. Well the folks over at Common Craft have a made a video called Twitter in Plain English and it is a great explanation of twitter and why so many people love it. Below is the video, so enjoy and I’m sure it explains twitter a lot better than I ever could. Also feel free to follow me on twitter at twitter.com/smojo

Revver gets acquired…Yahoo! relaunches video site

A lot has been going on in the world of video these days. Yahoo and Livevideo.com both came out with services to broadcast yourself live to the world. Another big rumor going around was that Revver was looking to sell. Reportedly they were trying to sell for between 300k to 500k. Well those reports were way off in terms of the selling amount.

5 million is the amount of dollars that Live Universe paid for Revver. If you are not familiar with Live Universe they also own Live Video. Personally 5 million seems a bit high but it is great for the people at Revver who were basically in debt. The Revver employees are expected to continue working under the new management. I’ve been a fan of Revver for a while and upload all my videos to it. My Revver page is at revver.com/u/smojo. They have a very strict policy on using copyrighted media which is sometimes annoying but I think it is a good policy for them to have. We will have to wait and see if they try and integrate Revver and LiveVideo in some way.

Yahoo! Video got a major update yesterday. It currently holds the number 3 spot in the video site market when it comes to amount of viewers. Obviously Youtube/Google is the leader in the market with Fox Interactive Media in the second position. It was really in need of an update and they have finally done it. Some of the major differences you will see are a 16:9 player, capacity increases and also featured sections for different topics. You are also able to use JumpCut to edit your video now which is a nice feature. My Yahoo! Video page is at HERE.
