Yesterday I was doing my normal blog reading in google reader when I came across a post about Charles Trippy. For those who don’t know Charles Trippy is a popular youtuber with over 36,000 subscribers to his channel. Two days ago he uploaded a video titled Longest Video Ever On YouTube! The video is a little over 9 hours long and it looks like it was recorded with just a web cam connected to his desktop. He spent many days compressing the video over and over again just to get it under the 100mb limit that youtube has.
A web cam connected to his computer recording what was going on in his house. Where have I seen this before? Oh right it is called Justin.tv. Now I think it is great and all that he managed to get this 9 hour video under 100mb and uploaded to youtube. But if I want to watch a really long video I will watch Justin from start to finish. If you want to start watching Justin from the earliest days just go back to the start 9 months ago and continue on from there.
Recently I signed up for a site called TubeMogul.com and am currently in love with it. At first I just thought it was a service that uploaded a video to multiple sites but it does more than that. It also gives you analytics. So you are able to see stats for every site you uploaded it to. At the moment there are 12 sites you are able to launch your video to. More sites will be available soon. The sites TubeMogul uploads to currently are Youtube, Yahoo Video, Myspace TV, Metacafe, Google Video, Revver, DailyMotion, Blip, Veoh, Crackle, StupidVideos and Brightcove. There are plans to add even more sites such as Viddler which will make me even happier. I’ve used the service to upload 3 different videos and it went very smooth. Saves so much time.
The guys over at The Richter Scales have put out a gem of a music video. It is sung to “We Didn’t Start the Fire” by Billy Joel. From the 1st couple seconds I knew I was going to enjoy this video just from the music. The lyrics are also pure genius. They even have a little Justin.tv thrown in to the video. Take a look! It is sure to become a classic. Also yes I am blogging about this music video.
