Smojo Speaks

It was day 5 of my trip to Arizona and and I was driving on I-40 going west. I had been driving in AZ for about an hour when all of a sudden a giant dinosaur popped up out of nowhere. Then a few minutes later another one showed up very close to the road. Had I been driving to long? Was I starting to hallucinate after looking at the road for hours and hours? After composing myself I continued to drive until I saw a sign for Stewart’s Petrified Wood Shop and it said that this place also had dinosaurs. My curious self decided to stop at this wood shop and take a look around.

Really not knowing what to expect I pulled off at exit 303. To get to the place you have to go on a dirt road and up a very small cliff. Once I parked my car it was time to look around. It was a very odd place with nothing around it for miles except the highway. As I started to walk around a bit I noticed a man starring at me from a window inside the shop. This creeped me out out for a second but then I started to walk towards this man and look inside the shop. This man I guess was Stewart and he informed me that the rock shop was opened in 1994 and the dinos were added as an attention grabber. The final day of the trip was an exciting day for me. I was so happy to finally reach Tempe. During the last day of the trip I decided to make a few stops at some very interesting locations in AZ.

For the 4th day I traveled a little over 530 miles. It started off in Elk City, OK and finished a few miles from the Arizona border in Gallup, NM. I was trying hard to make it into Arizona but found a very cheap motel in Gallup so I jumped at the chance to save a little cash. The entire day was spent on I-40W. A few of the stops along the way were one giant cross in the middle of nowhere. Also I visited the Cadillac Ranch in Texas which was a very interesting thing to see. I’m going to try and post a video of it soon.

The 3rd day of the trip took me through dangerous weather and also into some fun like the McDonald’s in Oklahoma that stretches across the entire highway. The entire day when I listened to the radio all I heard was tornado watch here and tornado warnings there. A few miles from Tulsa the sky turned black and a very hard rain started. The wind and rain were so bad that I was forced to pull over for a minutes. After it calmed down a little I went on with the drive which ended with me stopping in Elk City, Oklahoma.
